Welcome back to the #LMMLinkup for the first Monday in February. I start my post this week with a continuation of my blog series for the Write 28 Days Challenge. Today’s word: Simmer.
Finding Warmth of Simmer in Winter
Psalm 104
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
During the cold winter days, nothing is more satisfying and comforting than a warm soup that you simmer on the stove for hours. I find comfort in a chicken stew, chilis, delicious pot pies, and potato chowders. These soups warm the soul and bring joy to the day with rich spices and delicious meats. Other comfort foods for the winter month can include hot blueberry muffins with warm honey butter.
When the frost covers the ground, I love to drink a simmering hot tea or cocoa and delve into a Bible study and find the warmth found there. It seems when the cold keeps us inside, we can find more time to spend with Him which is the real magic that I find in the winter months.
The Holy Spirit can be as delicious as a warm stew with delicate meats melting in your mouth. His love can spread through my heart like warm cocoa.
As mentioned briefly in the introduction above, this post is written for the Anita Ojeda’s Write 28 Days Challenge for February 2019. My Favorite Post
Forgiveness has been on my mind a lot, especially as move forward with my winter devotions. Forgiveness holds me back in so many areas; so this post was a godsend. I highly recommend it.

Well, I really wanted to link up my post, Why I Will Not Be Thanking My Socks…. but I’m afraid it does apply to your link up theme…. oh well. I do invite you to link up with us on Fridays at Best of the Weekend if you like. http://www.b4andafters.com Thank you!
Of course, I meant “doesn’t” apply! Thank you for your reply on my article inviting me to link up here. So you did mean wreaths and such? At least the LOVE wreath was made from a music book– so that’s literacy related, right?!

Yes, a nice hot drink or meal can be so warming and comforting on those cold winter days, but God’s Word is our true comfort!
Thanks for choosing my post as your favorite this week, Mary!

Hi Mary, I’m in the Writer’s Challenge, I didn’t post four but anyone who wants to read can go to February. I make a mean pot of chili myself and I was thinking of potato soup today. How wonderful is your description of the Holy Spirit as delicious, may we all taste and see His goodness.
I long for more reasons to stay inside and at home. We don’t have your snowy winters, but occasionally go to a cabin in the mountains … just not often enough! 🙂 Blessings and thanks for hosting!

Thanks so much for featuring me this week! I love the thought of the Holy Spirit being comforting like a big pot of soup on a cold day. laurensparks.net
I love this reminder today! On my IGTV I have 1 Minute Mondays with a quick encouragement and today I am talking about seasons. It’s amazing how we need God in all the seasons of our life, and that He is there! I love picturing the simmering of His spirit in my coldest moments!
I have a a crockpot on low this morning brimming with Hot and Sour soup. 🙂 I do think these slower winter days allow many of us more time to curl up in Jesus’ lap a little more often.
Blessings,
Tammy
Lifting my mug of tea in agreement with you this morning, Mary!
Congratulations on this great start for the month of February!
