It amazes me how God forgets and forgives my sins when I can’t …. forget or forgive myself.
However that is what Paul, who called himself the chief of sinners, urges me to do in Philippians 3: 13-14
“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I can’t hold on to my past and move forward with Jesus and believe in His forgiveness. I can’t delight in Him. I can’t focus on Him as long as I hold on to past failures and sins.

Neither can you. When you and I accepted Jesus as our Savior, He knew we would choose Him. He watched our lives among millions of life-films play in cinematic clarity hanging on that cross 2,000 years ago. He saw every mistake, every misstep, every sin, every failure, and yet, he spread His arms out and died for you and me personally.
God doesn’t see those mistakes, failures, or sins. He sees you and I in Heaven, clean, beautiful, and as the perfect beings He intends for us to be.
You see, he never allowed Satan to tempt me more than I could handle. He defeated Satan and Satan’s plans for my life. Jesus fore knew everything, and He made it part of His plan to perfect me despite my failures and rebellion.
Jesus forgets my sins as far as the East and West. His love is so wonderful and pure. [tweetthis twitter_handles=”@Maryandering”]The truth I need to cling to today : My past is gone, forgotten, and forgiven. So is yours.[/tweetthis]

Yes! Great post. I’m over in the #12 spot this week.
I picked your post to read from FMF because of the title and not knowing you wrote it! We took the same kind of path. Praise God for His forgiveness.

Thank you for your encouraging words. The truth that our past is gone, forgotten, and forgiven, indeed is a truth to cling to everyday. Thanks also for sharing the song by Josh Wilson. Visiting from FMF. Blessings.
