Joy is not conditioned upon our situation. It is a holy state of being. When you experience the true joy of Christ, she never leaves you.
The Spirit is the author of our joy.
Joy eludes like a butterfly on the breeze
Her beautiful wings flutter in the sunlight.
As you approach her, she flutters away.
On the hunt for love and peace.
The complexity so thick. Joy transcends happiness or gaiety.
Needing no reason or condition
To shine through.
She implodes in a life when least anticipated.
You discover her depths even in the darkest of times.
She, flutters on the wind like a butterfly
Fleeting but always near
Waiting for you to admire
And Believe in her Power
Joy’s Story
The spring mist danced in the wind.
But, life blossomed.
The storms destruction threatened to take all away
She. watched home and things fly into the air.
Uncertainty caught up in debris
Loss weaved through
Sadness enveloped and tried to vanquish her.
Something held on.
Anchored her in the storm.
The Joy of The Lord strengthened and sustained
No matter how much the winds blew
Threatened and bluffed.
She was not alone or forsaken.
Her faith centered.
Her spirit lifted up
As the Son’s rays descended into her life
Bringing newness
A trial survived, a challenge overcome
Because the Joy of the Lord strengthened and saved.
She came through, shining and strong.
Refined and beautiful.
Her spirit sung unto the Lord.
Psalm 30:5 Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks Himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with jewels.

I appreciate the metaphor of the butterfly and the story of the storm. I’ve had a lot of storms, figurative and literal, in my life recently, and I strive daily for joy. I know God is in my corner, and with Him, I can handle anything.
What a great testament to joy and to God. It is only through Him that we can truly find joy. I choose joy most days. When I am too weak, I need to ask Him to choose it for me. 🙂
Deb, thank you for the wonderful comment. You really encouraged me today.

I just had to read your post for two reasons. Joy has been on my mind and I wanted to see your butterfly. I’m glad I did. This line spoke to me – Joy transcends happiness or gaiety.
Vanessa, thanks so much. I loved your butterfly picture today too.
