Welcome to my Literacy Musing Mondays Party. Today, I am talking about blog series. We are moving into summer. As we start the new season, I am planning a series on parenting. I will share more information later this week when I complete writing the entire series.
How Do Handle Blog Series?
When writing a blog series, it is best to write the complete series and then schedule each post to run.
I want to publish my blog series in increments after I have all my posts written. I don’t want to start and not finish it. I am also trying to design a series graphic just as I designed one for the Write 31 Days series in October.
Any thoughts on writing a blog series? How do you handle writing series on your blog? Do you wing it and publish after you write each individual post or write the entire series first? Also please share any links to series that you have a run the comments area or link them up this week for us to read and enjoy. I would love to see how you handle series posts.
Now on to our weekly Literacy Musing Monday’s linkup where we link up posts about reading, writing, blogging, and even share our written Bible devotions.

Linkup Rules:
- Include a link back or the blog hop button linked to this hop on your posts.
- Link up the urls to your posts not to your blog.
- Please remember this is a family-friendly linkup. We reserve the right to delete any posts that are not family friendly. We love all kinds of literature and genres including family-friendly inspirational romances, fantasy, or science fiction. We do not welcome posts featuring books or writing with excessive violence, sexual content, or cursing. These posts will be deleted.
- We also want to be loving community by supporting one another. Please make a point to do this this week! Visit the two posts before yours and at least one other blogger’s post of your choice! I want to see lots of clicks on everyone’s posts. Remember it is also nice to follow them on their social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
- Follow your hosts and co-hosts on their social media.

Mary, thanks for joining in the Bloggers Pit Stop. I have done a few series and I do them one at a time and then publish. It would be better to have them all done prior to publishing 🙁
One advantage of publishing each one is to get feedback and then be able to answer questions in the next one. Here is one that I just published and the second part is due out on Friday. This one is on getting the best out of Link Parties and hopefully, the next one will be tips on hosting a link party. https://www.kathleenaherne.com/love-link-parties-how-to-benefit/
Thanks, that was a good question to ask and to think about.
I typically write as I go… knowing my readers are waiting for me to finish motivates me to keep at it. But I tend to wing just about everything on my blog since I never really have the time to sit down and plan it out.

I haven’t handled blog series well. Been fitting them in as I can except for the 31 days in October. You have me thinking. Some times I’ve never gotten back to finish a series.
Hi, Mary! I have not done a blog series, but the ones I have seen do a post once a week and I have seen them continue for a few weeks or months continuously. Wishing you all the best as you post these series, and I am excited to read them! Thanks for hosting and hope you have a wonderful week 🙂
Hi Mary!
I have done a few series. My most popular is one I re-post every year with a couple of updates. It’s a five part series on the Plimoth Plantation Thanksgiving. I wrote it in first person and used primary source quotes from William Bradford’s diary accounts of 1620-1621. I post it over a series of days the two weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Popular with the homeschool set. That series I wrote all at once and created the graphics, separating them into chapters (posts) before creating the set of them. A summer series I did a couple of years ago I planned in an outline, but wrote each of the four posts one at a time. I would opt for doing it all at once and separating it out. Doing one a week and calling it a series is fine–but does not remove the stress of creating material each week. I have some companion study guides I’m working on for my last two high concept picture books, and though I hate to admit it, blogging gets in the way of this larger work being completed. I’m musing over a couple of series to write and schedule so I can have more valuable writing time devoted to the study guides being released on their deadlines. Looking forward to WP scheduling tips you might have to share.
Joy!

Mary, if you prefer not to have the links to my series, I will understand.

Mary, I’ve learned the hard way that it’s better to write the whole series. Otherwise, I always seem to be playing catch up!
I have a short series on homosexuality and how we got where we are today, also how we need to respond in love. I’ll link it up here as you suggested.
Thanks for hosting and for linking up at Mondays @ Soul Survival! Blessings!

My most favorite blog series have been in conjunction with a topic that my women’s Sunday School class has been studying. When we were working our way through Nehemiah and (most recently) through Hebrews, I would try to put together a blog post before Wednesday (pant pant) that would either tie up loose ends from our discussion or get their minds thinking about the following week’s topic. So helpful for me as the teacher, and it did give my students a little mid-week booster.
The problem I have with series is just . . . making it happen and keeping it going. I think I enjoy writing Bible Study posts as much as I enjoy the book reviews.

Michele, I know what you mean. That is why I am going to do strive to write just a short series. Three to five part series.
