I blend prompts I find on blog hops regularly here at Mary-andering Creatively. This week I wanted to accomplish a lot with my blog while meeting new communities to join and staying true to my old friends like the 10 Things Thankful crew at Considerings. It is a challenge, but I think it keeps my content fresh.
Here are some great things I found this week and am thankful for discovering because of the lessons learned.
Emily Freeman has a great link-up at the end of each month entitled: What We Learned in (insert current month). I love her post on keeping tabs of things we discover too and how we can use these things as artists and writers.
From Renee Smith, I learned about some great free and almost free graphic sites: Upsplash (this one is totally free and you can use the graphics, however you want) and the Death to Stock Photo site which has a free tier in its subscription program. I read Renee a lot, especially when I run across her posts on some amazing blog hops like Jennifer Duke Lee’s Tell His Story linkup.
I also loved Kate Motaung’s prompt of Favorite this week on Five Minute Friday. I am going to work on this post next. I am thankful that each of us is God’s favorite, which is indeed a miracle, considering we number in the billions. But our God is miraculous that way. Stayed tuned for more.
My favorite quote thus far:
“I have heard it said that a thought determines an action. An action determines a habit, and a habit determines our future. So what we do over and over again determines where we will go and how we will act in the tough times. … Training doesn’t guarantee that we will never fail. But it does guarantee that we will get back up and do the right thing.”
So, from Holly, I have learned I am a Warrior Chick, fighting the good fight to point others to the love of God.
From Lisa Murray, I learned how to make anxiety work for me. I know God says to be anxious for nothing and in all things to trust Him. Murray explains that God uses our times of anxiety to teach us valuable stuff.
It is fascinating to me how blogging connects me to others in ways I never dreamed possible. I feel like I learn something new everyday on countless blogs that I read. Blogging also connected me to great new books, like Warrior Chicks, that I get for free in exchange for my honest reviews.
On another note, my daughter’s summer is spinning away too. I was able to get her to refocus this week. She has been spending so much time on the computer. (I wonder where she gets this from? Hmmm?) She printed up this to do list for the rest of the summer.
I also learned how much I love fireballs that my sis-in-law introduced me to when we sat around her table playing a simple card game, laughing and just sharing wonderful times.
Finally, I think the most poignant lesson of the month: the importance of family. We can snipe, fight, and bicker. We can love, hug, and uplift one another. We can spend wonderful moments together. In the end, we are family.
Linking up with some great hops listed on my Linkup Parties page. Be sure to check it out.
