Wait proceeds change.
Delay heavily breathes in a room of quiet where you sit in anticipation of the next hours in your life.
It colors life in a gray hues.
Wait seems to refuse to bloom.
Conditions Caused By Wait
Winter hanging on blocking the arrival of Spring.
A desert time when the Israelis wondered in circles until the Lord allowed them to take the Promise Land.
The time you anticipate word from a doctor about the condition of a loved one.
Suspended in time by a phone listening for a call about medical tests.
He is a servant that labors in the background.
I know him personally. I try to hurry him, and my faith plummets to my feet.
My hope disappears because he neglects my emotional needs of knowing everything will be okay.
He turns to faith and tells Faith to step in because we’ve entered a season of delay.
I don’t like Wait. Sometimes, I wish he would go jump in a lake.
I want my answers now, yesterday. I wish my problems gone in an instant, blown to smithereens.
How do you wait? He takes the form of a harsh taskmaster.

Psalms 33
20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he [is] our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
Isaiah 40:31
They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
This post is written for Day 10 of the March Slice of Life Story Challenge, I am also joining Holly Mueller’s Spiritual Journey Thursday, where we are writing on One Little Words for 2016. This week’s word is WAIT.
I will also join several of the hops listed on my Link-up Parties page.
I’ve never thought of comparing WAITing to faith’s taskmaster. It’s a perfect metaphor, but I’m with you in admitting its difficulty.

Thank you. I know it is hard to wait in faith.

I am always amazed at how the wait becomes worth it. An early resolution that I deem appropriate is never the amazing resolution that God has thought up – that takes just a little longer.

Waiting is my toughest test and it’s the one I fail most — like you, I need to soak my heart and mind in Scripture so that I will be more focused on what God is doing in the waiting than on the object of my wait!

Great point. We should focus on God’s working in our life. We will miss His mighty hand at work if we don’t. Thanks for adding this conversation about wait.

Mary, the line that resonates with me is “He turns to faith and tells Faith to step in because we’ve entered a season of delay.” Faith is holding me together in the belief that the Lord will step in and bring a new direction.
Amen, I will pray for your new direction with you. Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for sharing your conflicted feelings about WAIT so honestly! WAIT IS a hard one to accept, let alone embrace. The image at the top of your post is so beautiful and perfect for a WAIT post!
I loved it. It is so beautiful. It reminded me of the essence of the word, “wait.” Watching a flower bloom involves delay and time.

Thank you Mary, that is a good reminder about waiting. I have heard the saying that God is sometimes slow but He is NEVER late.
Kathleen, Amen. He is always on time (His time), and God has perfect timing because He is perfect.
