I wake with goals and tasks swirling through my mind. This morning my thoughts center on motivating my daughter as she readies for school; a morning grocery trip; errands and chores. I feel like Martha on steroids.
I have to pause. I have to find a haven and rest.
We all struggle with this don’t we? How do we refocus and start on the right foot?
Mornings are a gift of God. I need to wake with worship and thanksgiving in my heart. The sun cracking through my blinds brings promise of hope and renewal.
On rainy days, I seek not to give a way to gloom, but listen for the guidance of God’s hands and pray the rain washes away my pride and sin.
How do I accomplish this worship in the mornings?
“But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.” ~ Psalm 59:16
Successfully Focusing on Morning Worship
First and foremost, I wake with a prayer of blessing and guidance from above.
“Morning, my Lord, you are my desire. My love. How do I shine You in my life for others to see?” I pray. “Jesus help me to focus on you and where to go from here.:
Secondly, I map out my day, beginning with Bible study and prayer.
We all have different places to be and differing responsibilities. Our mornings come crashing in. Some of us have little time and must get ready for work. Those of who stay at home are blessed with more time in so many ways, but our days can still overflow with busy work. (Can I get a witness!)
After prayer and Bible study, I look for ways to serve. My blog and writing are my service to my readers.
Finally, never forget your main roles in life as you move throughout the day. Jesus gives us each unique missions in life. For some mothers, we can focus on taking care of home and children; while, other women have to fulfill their homemaking roles as well as work full-time outside the home.
Even as we move throughout our days, we can fulfill our roles with joy and love so that we point others to Him and the truth of His gospel of Salvation.
I find that if I move in a continuous spirit of prayer and worship, I don’t have time to loose my focus on Him and my days are even richer. (I know easier said than done, but remember “We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.”)
I wrote the top portion of this post for Kate Motaung’s Five Minute Friday linkup this week where the prompt word focused on “morning.”
Also sharing this post with the great blog hops listed on my Link-up Parties page.
So important to take time to just pause.
Amen! Thank you for this wonderful reminder. I pray that in the morning, I may put Christ first. Also, I hope that even throughout the day especially, I may demonstrate an act of worship. I have bookmarked your post so I don’t forget the insights you shared! (haha) Blessings.
Alexandra, I am so happy that this post impacted you. I too strive to fill my days with demonstrations of worship. Thanks so much for visiting.

Thank you for sharing this inspirational reminder with #SocialButterflySunday! It is so hard when we get caught up in the day to day, and miss that alone time with God. Hope to see you link up again this week 🙂

Love this! It’s so important to start our day with his praise on our lips! Somedays I try to get out my guitar before we start school and do worship with my children or worship to my music as I run. I love this–>Even as we move throughout our days, we can fulfill our roles with joy and love so that we point others to Him and the truth of His gospel of Salvation.
Thank you for this timely reminder!
Rebekah thank you for this wonderful encouragement. I write to touch others. I am thrilled you found something useful to apply in your own life. I also think it is great that you share praise through music with your children.

I loved the picture and I’m grateful how you shared the info around and about. Bless you and thank you!
Ah, so true, Mary. I have been trying to develop the habit of reading at least a chapter in the morning before going to work and starting my day. It really sets the tone for the day. There are so many things that grab our attention these days, no matter the stage of life we are in.

I can relate to mornings crashing in somedays. Before we know it our quiet time has derailed and our focus for the day is off. It is a beautiful thing to begin the day thinking of God first. Thank you for reminding us of the importance of doing this. Blessings!

This is beautiful as always. I must admit I’m guilty of diving into work first thing during the day. To alleviate the guilt, I just listen to worship music or inspirational talks while typing away. But I know it’s not enough. Must give more time to God in the morning.

Lux, me too. Yesterday, I tried to do Bible study and prayer first, but this morning, I jumped into writing and commenting. I want to put Him first.

I love spending time with God in the morning and I can tell I big difference in my attitude on days when I don’t. It can be hard to make the time and truly focus on Him when we have so many other things to check off of our list, but I am learning that when we make time for God, He makes time for everything else we need to accomplish.
So true. I know this firsthand too. Thanks for commenting and for your support.

Hi Mary, I agree Mornings are the best time to connect with God. I read my Bible using e-Sword on my computer. I pray and worship as I walk in our yard. That way I get physical as well as spiritual exercise. Thank you for sharing your awesome post with us here at Tell me a Story.

We really are on the same page today, aren’t we? And I see my desire expressed in these words especially: “If I move in a continuous spirit of prayer and worship, I don’t have time to loose my focus on Him and my days are even richer.” The morning sets the pace, doesn’t it? But yes, He really does the doing, the energizing and the moving. Nice to meet you here on Sharing His Beauty.
Hello, Mary. Mornings ARE a gift from God. I used to not be a morning person, but I became one after I started homeschooling my children.
Worship time with God is best in the mornings before the day gets away from us (which is SO easy to happen). I find that when I miss my morning time praying or reading the bible the day just seems ‘off’.
Thanks for a lovely post.
I love my worship time. I hope to make it a habit. I need accountability though. Praying for real time with the Lord daily. I have to take the time and make it my number one priority
