Luke 8:18
“So pay attention to how you listen! Those who understand [these mysteries] will be given [more knowledge].
However, some people don’t understand [these mysteries].
Even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” GOD’S WORD® Translation
“You never listen. You don’t understand me,” my daughter often admonishes.
I am so busy, so tied up into the daily grind.
Often, I don’t slow down. I don’t give my attention to or listen to my daughter. She just wants my ear for a few minutes to let me know how her day went. How her life is going.
I force myself to pay attention. I take my time to listen, and draw closer to her.
It is the same with God.
It is shame that I have to force myself to take time with Him, my creator and God.
I have no excuse.
I pray that I listen more. That I give Him my time to hear His Word and let it permeate my heart.
I acknowledge Him as Lord of my life.
His Holy Spirit whispers in my ear.
I tune into Him and listen to His message for me.
How do we develop a listening spirit?
Prayer, reading His word, and just waiting on Him.
Without listening, relationships can dwindle.
Without taking the time to hear we become more divided and alone.
Take today to read His word, pray, and dwell in silence,
Listen for His whisper. Listen for His voice deep in your soul.
He waits.
He loves.
He speaks.
When His spirit envelops you, you will find that having a listening heart will bring you peace, love, and deeper joy than you ever experienced before. Listen for His whispers of pure love.
