It is Five Minute Friday at Literacy Musing Mondays. Today, I want to share with you great news about this community that links up with Kate Motaung every Friday to share a love of writing and creativity.
I am a contributor to the new book: Five Minute Friday : A Collection of Stories Written in Five Minutes Flat which was compiled by my friend and Christian blogger and book author, Susan Chamberlain Shipe. The book becomes available Monday morning!
This book features writing by some of the best Five Minute Friday community members including: Asheritah Ciucin, author of Full and Walking Alone With God; Crystal Stine author of Creative Basics: 30 Days to Awesome Social Media Art; and Holly Barrett, co- author with Rachel Solomon of Gray Hair Talking: Some : Lessons I’m learning as my Hair is Turning. In total the book includes 150 pieces by bloggers from around the world.
The concept of Five Minute Friday is easy, Kate provides a one-word prompt, and you take that prompt and write about it for five minutes without backtracking or correcting. As Kate says:
All it takes is five short minutes. Set a timer, and set your fingers free.” ~@k8motaung, @maryandering Click To TweetI joined the community in 2013 and found such encouragement as a writer. I hate missing writing each week. This week’s prompt is “five” which I will aim to write about tomorrow.
In the meantime, I hope you will purchase your Five Minute Friday book copy today! You can purchase on Amazon here or at Create Space here. All profits will be divided equally between two ministries in South Africa: The Vine School in Cape Town, and The Ten Dollar Tribe–so we’d love to sell as many books as possible to impact these fantastic ministries!

#Note the links above include Amazon affiliate links. If you use to purchase any of the books, I will receive a small percentage which I use to pay blogging expenses.
Now on to our weekly Literacy Musing Monday’s linkup where we link up posts about what inspires you in reading, writing, blogging, and even share our written Bible devotions.
First, some brief announcements. Gayl Wright has left us as a host. We all will miss her, but she wanted to focus on her writing on her blog. We are keeping her on the host graphic for just a few weeks (until I can find time to do a new one.) In the meantime, be sure to use her links and visit her and tell her much you appreciated her as a host.
Would you like to host the #LMMLinkup? We will have more about this opportunity in the weeks to come. In the meantime, you can contact any of us to let us know your interests. My email is marykatbpcsc45 @ gmail(dot)com. Leslie’s is theforeverjoyfulhomeschool

My Favorite Post of the Week:
Lord, Please Distract Me
I can so easily identify with this post. Electronic screen can consume so much of my time too.
I share her prayer:
“Lord, please distract me. May your Word be ever so glorious to me that, like an unceasing hunger pang, the holiest of distractions continually allures me – until I give in.”
Be sure to read this post and share your feelings too below.
