#LMMLinkup: My God is Faithful

August 6, 2018 By Mary Hill 22 Comments

Right now, I am struggling again with basic faith issues. God is dealing with me in a new day. He is not refilling old vessels that will just leak and break. He seems to be restoring, renewing, and rebuilding me as I recover from trials.

Of this I am assured: My God is faithful to fulfill His word in my life.

The devil is a liar who seeks to devour our souls. He will use any trick in the book to make us doubt God, but God holds that book. Remember the scene from the Bible in Job where Satan had to ask permission to try Job? God granted it, but put conditions on it. He does that for us too. The Bible states in Corinthians 10:13:

“There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man.

But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear,

but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

What trial or temptation do you face today? Look up. Your deliverance is in Christ. His will and plan will prevail in your life.

I love to meditate on scripture when facing trials or temptations. What are your favorite go to verses? Share in the comments below.

I love your sentence about God making a new vessel so the things He will fill you up with won’t leak out of the cracks. That is so true!

Oh I sure understand how it feels to have my faith stretched and proven! One passage that continues to echo through my head is from Philippians 4, “And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Thank you for being so open with your struggles–we are meant to share and pray for each other along this walk! Blessings and Love to you!

    Hi Mary,
Ahhh struggles, totally empathize! Greatest growth comes from those…

My go to is Jeremiah 29:11-13
“I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans to prosper, not to harm you…”

Jennifer, great verse. I love it. It really uplifts when you have times of trials to memorize and recall this verse.

My go-to verse is always, “Be Still and Know that I am God.” Sorry, you are struggling, but it is a good sign.

My struggle right now is not letting the Holy Spirit lead me in my everyday life. I allow the busyness take over. Old problem same struggle.

Today I did it differently so we will see.

    Praying for you.

Maree Dee, I will uplift you in prayer. I have that struggle as well. I let the world hinder me in my faith and focus on things that really do not matter.

I just read that passage in Job yesterday. I always find that very reassuring! I know God will see you through this and you’ll come out the other side like Job did. I know He has been faithful to do that in my life!

I forgot to say that it sounds like we are going through some of the same types of trials on our journey. The Lord has continuously been pouring His words of affirmation, love, and ability over me. From your post it sounds like He is doing the same for you. Hang in there! He is so good and faithful!

Knowing that God puts limits on what He allows Satan to do helps a lot – though we often wish He’d set the limits further than He does. 🙂 A couple of my go-to verses: one is Isaiah 43:2, ESV: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Not if, but when. The other is Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I go back to some favorite psalms (46, 91, 103), but also Romans 8. I need the reminder that nothing can separate me from the love of God.
