Literacy Musing Mondays: Summer Reading Joys

June 5, 2016 By Mary Hill 7 Comments

Welcome to the Literacy Musing Mondays Party. This week let’s share about summer reading goals for ourselves and our children.

I joined Summer Book Club at Grace Table. where we are reading Christie Purifoy’s book: Roots and Sky: A Journey Home in Four Seasons (Amazon affiliate link).

GT summer reading Roots And Sky
So far reading this writing of art indulges the senses. Christie has reminded me that true homecoming is a process rather than a moment and life is like a fountain.

“A fountain is an extravagance. But extravagant things just may be the truest things … Everyday life is truly extravagant. It is morning glories we did not plant. It is our four children we did nothing to deserve. It is moonlight and starlight, rainbow-colored leaves and autumn rain … A fountain, not slipping away but pouring out, always carrying us deeper into the heart of things — to home.”

Joys of Summer Reading

Summer for me is like that too: the lightning bugs, the warm nights, warm hearts, and cool breezes of ceiling fans. Laughter of children running through sprinklers of glory water, brilliant glittering in the hot summer sun.

Now on to our weekly Literacy Musing Monday’s linkup where we link up posts about reading, writing, blogging, and even share our written Bible devotions.

Last Week’s Top Clicked Post!

Toward a Theology of Reverence and Awe

By Michele Morin at Living Our Days

Michele’s posts are frequently the most clicked each week. This week, she received a record number of clicks. Her review of None Like Him by Jen Wilkin turns into a song of praise that warms the heart. This post is one not to miss.

My Favorite Post of the Week:

Why Every Mom Feels Like the Worst Mom in the World

why-every-mom-feels-like-worst-mom-world

by Tehila at WOMEN ABIDING

In this inspiring post, Tehila reminds moms the importance of extending grace into their own life of motherhood. My favorite thought:

“God’s grace is sufficient to bridge the gaps of imperfect parenting.”

We may be imperfect as mothers, but God’s love for us and our children perfects and sustains us. For more inspiration be sure to read this wonderful post.
