Blogging challenges can be so fun and can help reinvigorate your blogging. Every year in March I participate in the Slice of Life challenge. When you write using this method, you just write about your life in a specific moment, “a slice of life.” It is like freewriting, a method many use to start writing.
The organizers write: “A slice of life storytelling technique offers insight into an ordinary person’s life. You can think of it as a small moment story. You’re not telling about your whole day – just a piece of it. (For more information, click here.)”
Public school teachers are among the main participants, but any bloggers are welcome. I knew about Slice of Life because I worked as a school librarian and read their blog regularly. I have participated every year since I started blogging in 2013. It is fun. When you link up your post, others come and read and leave encouraging comments. It is a real community.
If you like to learn more about this challenge you can check it out here. Also be sure to check out this post which offers great tips to help you succeed.
Are you a homeschool mom looking for a way to reinvigorate a love for writing? This challenge will help because your children can participate too. You can learn more by reading here.
What do you think about writing challenges? Do you know of any others. I would love for you to share in the comments below. I also participate in the Write 31 Days challenge in October and the A to Z Blogging Challenge in April.
Writing is such an integral part of literacy. My co-host, Brandi, has great post about what literacy means today. Be sure to check it out too.
Now on to our weekly linkup. First let’s

Remember to check out other hosts’ blogs to see which posts from last week were their favorites. Want to be the next to be featured! Just link up a post and if you are read the most, we will feature you. Also please make sure you link back to us so others will know about our link up and join in. We try to make it worth your while to linkup with us by promoting your posts across our social media networks. We also pin our most clicked and featured posts to our Pinterest Board each week!
Now, it is time to link up to the Literacy Musing Mondays hop!

Linkup Rules:
- Include a link back or the blog hop button linked to this hop on your posts.
- Link up the urls to your posts not to your blog.
- Please remember this is a family-friendly linkup. Although we believe in the right for adults to read whatever they want to read, we prefer to read wholesome posts that feature literature that edify and uplift families. We reserve the right to delete any posts that are not family friendly. We love all kinds of literature and genres including family-friendly inspirational romances, fantasy, or science fiction. We do not welcome any posts that feature excessive violence, sexual content, or any cursing. This rule also applies to book review posts that feature books that are not family-friendly. These posts will be deleted without notice to the blogger or explanation. While we believe in the right for all adults to read whatever they want, we feel our linkup is for family-friendly posts only. Thank you for understanding.
- We also want to be loving community by supporting one another. Please make a point to do this this week! Visit the two posts before yours and at least one other blogger’s post of your choice! I want to see lots of clicks on everyone’s posts. Remember it is also nice to follow them on their social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
- Follow your hosts and co-hosts on their social media.
- Tweet about the link up too.
I will also be joining great hops listed on my linkup parties page.

I first stumbled on Five Minute Friday years ago… a writer’s challenge to write about the one word prompt in five minutes -letting the words flow and doing minimal editing. It felt scary to just start typing and let it flow freely and hit publish. Soon after that, I found the #write31days challenge in October. I have participated in that challenge for years now, but it seems I need more and more recovery time after each series! 😉
Mary – Thank you so much for stopping by and linking up to #TuneInThursday – my new party today. I so appreciate you doing that and I hope it helps #LMM grow too.

I was just going through my emails, I am so behind, and I saw your email for your blog and I am so glad I clicked on it today! I had never heard of The Slice Of Life but I am really excited about it. I just signed up on the participation link. I haven’t written on my blog for quite a while so I am really excited about this challenge. Thank you so much for sharing about it 🙂
Shannon you welcome. I will head over and read your posts. Please link them up with us this month. 🙂

Thank you for pointing out the slice of life. It looks interesting, don’t know if I’m up the challenge currently though. Blogging with 5 kids is harder than I though 🙂

Julie, you welcome. I know how hard it is to blog with just one kid. LOL

My schedule is pretty full, so not much time for challenges right now. I’m in one of those seasons that life thrusts upon us so it’s its own kind of challenge. Maybe in the “next season.” Thanks for hosting each week.

Donna, I love challenges and look forward to the three that I participate in annually. I think though that you have great regular material without challenges. I wish I was as organized as you are. 🙂
I enjoy writing challenges, for the most part. Currently I am doing an AtoZ challenge sharing my life as a full-time working mom who also homeschools. Thanks for sharing!
Wow. you are busy. I can’t wait to see your AtoZ challenge posts this year.

Oops! I meant that comment for another blog! I accidentally came back to this page before posting it! But thank you Mary and Brandi for hosting this link up and might I say again how encouraging the two of you are? Thank you!

I stand in awe of your daily posting challenges! Maybe someday (I keep saying that about Five Minute Friday, too!), but for right now, I have all I can do to put something out there twice a week.
Thanks for all that you do here as well!
